John David Walt

John David (J.D.) Walt serves as Dean of Chapel and Vice President for Community Life at Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky. He joined the Asbury Seminary administration in the fall of 2000. Prior to this, he worked alongside Chris Tomlin in giving leadership to a local congregation within The Woodlands United Methodist Church called “The Harvest” in Houston, Texas. As Dean of Chapel, J.D. gives broad leadership to the areas of Worship, Prayer and Spiritual Formation on campus. He also directs Seminarius, a creative and innovative project funded by the Lilly Endowment, designed to equip students and families in the development of sustainable practices of formation. A published author and worship songwriter, J.D. serves as a mentor to a number of worship leaders around the world both well known and unknown. He has served as a pastor and teacher in the Passion movement and is involved as a theology teacher for Worship Central, the worship equipping ministry of Tim Hughes and Al Gordon of the United Kingdom. He is a licensed attorney and an ordained elder in the Texas Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church. He is married to Tiffani, also an Asbury Seminary graduate and ordained Deacon in the UMC, and they have four children David, Mary Kathryn, Lily and Samuel.

    John David, Could you recommend a great Sunday School study for my SS Class (Cornerstone), ages 60-80? I attend Central UM Church and Carness Vaughn is our pastor.
